Nail down your brand in 5 steps using Canva
A podcast where you join me (Amanda!) as I cover branding, content, marketing and a whole lot more!
I'm a Canva-obsessed brand coach helping women build scroll-stopping content with confidence and ease.
Let’s be real: your brand is so much more than a pretty logo or a clever tagline. In fact, it’s how people feel when they land on your Instagram feed, scroll through your website, or open one of your emails. Altogether, it’s the vibe, the voice, and the visuals that make your business uniquely YOU. We’re diving into how to refresh your brand identity using Canva!
If your brand is starting to feel a little…meh (think outdated, inconsistent, or just plain blah), it might be time for a refresh. The best part? You don’t need to hire a pricey designer or spend hours buried in complicated design tools to make it happen.
Fortunately, thanks to Canva, branding just got a whole lot easier. Whether you’re building your brand from scratch or giving it a much-needed refresh, this powerful (and totally free) tool puts the design magic right at your fingertips—no graphic design degree required. In this post, I’m walking you through exactly how to give your brand a mini glow-up—or, if you’re feeling bold, a total makeover. Step by step, you’ll learn how to create a brand identity that not only looks beautiful but also feels aligned with who you are and what your business stands for. By the end, you’ll feel confident, clear, and totally capable of showing up online with a brand that’s cohesive, polished, and unmistakably you.

Think of your brand identity as a collection of visual elements—such as colors, fonts, logos, and layout styles—that, when combined, paint the picture of your business. Moreover, it’s the way your audience connects with you on an emotional level. After all, that connection is exactly what keeps people coming back.
Here’s what a strong brand identity can do for your biz:
Before anything else, start by setting up your Brand Kit inside Canva. After all, it’s your secret weapon for staying consistent, saving time, and making every design feel on-brand without the guesswork.

1. Create a Logo That Reflects You
Your logo doesn’t need to be fancy—it just needs to feel aligned with your brand personality.
Tips:
Keep it simple and scalable—your logo should look just as good on your Instagram bio as it does on a business card.
2. Nail Down Your Brand Colors
Colors are powerful. They evoke emotion and create connection, even before a single word is read.
Tips:
• Choose 2–3 core colors and 1–2 neutrals.
• Use Canva’s color palette generator for inspo based on a photo you love.
Stick to your palette across all graphics, and your content will instantly feel more professional and polished.
3. Pick Fonts That Speak Your Language
Fonts are like tone of voice—but for visuals.
Tips:
Remember: Consistency > creativity when it comes to fonts.
Once your visuals are dialed in, it’s time to apply them across all platforms.
Social Media
Use your brand fonts, colors, and logo on every post or story highlight. Canva makes this easy with reusable templates for Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, and more.
Website & Emails
Carry your branding into your site and inbox. That’s where trust builds. Create email graphics and web banners in Canva that match your social visuals.
Print Materials
Yup, your biz cards and flyers deserve the same love. Canva has templates for print, too—just click “Print Products” and you’re off to the races.
If you want to really uplevel your consistency (and keep your VA or biz bestie on the same page), create a simple brand guidelines doc.
